Usually, the only time people bring their car in for A/C service, is when it’s not working up to par. If the problem had been caught during scheduled maintenance, one of our ASE certified mechanics could have corrected it before causing damage to other A/C components.
When your car’s A/C is not blowing as cold as it should, it usually means its low on Freon. The Freon contains the lubricant required to keep your A/C compressor from seizing up. Luckily, there’s a low pressure switch that cycles the compressor on and off in an attempt to try and eliminate compressor damage. The lack of lubricant, even for short cycles, is definitely hard on the internal components of the compressor.
If your car’s A/C compressor fails, it’ll send metal debris into the rest of your car’s A/C system, requiring multiple parts and repairs. The best time to have you’re A/C serviced is before the extreme Phoenix summer starts, you don’t need it to fail when you need it most.
