For those of you who are on top of their vehicle's scheduled maintenance and regularly check the coolant level, keep it up. But, although important, this is only one small component of the complete cooling system which should be inspected and maintained on a regular basis during a preventative maintenance program.

Your coolant level and condition, water pump, belts, radiator, cap, hoses, heater core, cooling fan, thermostat, temperature sensors, wire harness and temperature gauge or “check engine” light, even your vehicle’s computer (ECM) are all part of your vehicle's cooling system. If it sounds like I’m just rattling off the names of parts, let me assure you, I’ve only listed the most common, cooling system components.

With vehicle manufacturers creating new models with new and improved parts every year, there are endless sub components of your cooling system. If any of these parts were to fail, just as if your coolant bottle was to run dry, it would have a dramatic effect on the life expectancy of your car’s engine. All of these items must be checked on a regular basis.
