Keeping your fuel system on a tight maintenance schedule is the key to ensuring optimum fuel economy and engine performance.

Gone are the days of a fuel pump, filter and carburetor comprising the fuel system. Today’s highly sophisticated, electronically controlled fuel systems are very temperamental.

Just as with the modern cooling system, your fuel system is also comprised of a main system which includes a sealed fuel tank with an EVAP system that can malfunction just by leaving your fuel cap loose.

Most main systems also include an “in tank” electric fuel pump with computer controlled relays supplying the power to the submerged pump.

So if you’re following along, that’s voltage energized wires fed into your fuel tank to the fuel pump which is submerged in the fuel. Talk about a job for a certified mechanic, just one bad connection, which causes heat, and things could go bad real fast.
